This was a welcomed day for relaxing
But we do wish it had been right after Rome
So we didn’t have five days in row of marathon touring
Oh well…
We started with Mimosas and a light breakfast in our cabin
We then went to another Cruise Critic meeting,
It was fun getting to see people for a second time
And discuss the cruise, the ship, the cruise line
And planning for future cruises.
Plus we got a copy of the CC group picture taken
Of those that attended the first meeting
We then went back to our cabin to start packing,
But first decided to have room service lunch.
It was VERY good!
Too bad we didn’t have more sea days to enjoy this!
While eating we had another bird fly onto our deck
We were out at sea…where are they coming from?
I started back inside to get my camera
And discovered our sliding door had locked on us.
How bizarre…very strange feeling.
Here we are with a great lunch, a bottle of wine,
On our own balcony…and locked out.
Hmmm, just a momentary panic.
Someone will figure this out.
The Cabin Attendant will come in?
Nope, we put out the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign.
OK, so I started yelling, “Hello, can anyone hear me?”
Cabins to the right, cabins to the left, cabins beneath
It’s a sea day, people (like us) have to be sitting
On their own balconies…don’t they?
I guess so.
Several heads poked out.
The lady beneath us called Guest Services
And our Cabin Attendant came and bailed us out.
She said that was impossible to happen.
She thought someone must have been in our cabin
And done it to us…Rich? Lynn? NOT!
Nope, and nope…not impossible, and no one did it.
I guess we had the handle balanced just right
So the door would open, but when we shut it…it locked.
Oh well, if that is the WORST thing to happen to us….
It was really pretty funny, and our food didn’t even get cold.
After lunch we spent most the afternoon packing
I was also able to post a couple of blogs
We were moving VERY slow (like 7 knots)
Figured we were close to port and not in a hurry
Wondered if we had cell phone coverage
Tried calling DD Susie
(Darling Daughter for you non-Cruise Critic readers)
Call would not go thru despite ‘bars’ of coverage
Later, while getting dressed for dinner,
put cell phone in pocket…just in case.
While having a drink in cabin heard a funny noise.
Sounded like a radio was on.
Next door?
Dad…Dad…Dad, is what it sounded like.
We both looked around…where?
Sound seemed to follow me
Realized it was coming from my pocket.
It was Susie.
I hadn’t locked the key pad, so must have hit ‘redial’
And the call went through this time.
Too funny…but we did have a nice (albeit short) talk.
That will probably cost at least $10 (phone is handy, but expensive)
Met R/L for drinks…last time while on the ship.
Fun dinner with the rest of the ‘gang’
Brent/Terri, Dan/Mary, Joe/Pat
We all feel we had the BEST table! Table 559 Rocks!
When it was time to order dessert, we had a surprise.
Another BD cake for JB
It seems the ‘group of 6’ felt guilty for missing the ‘real’ party
So they arranged for a 2nd cake…BUT, this was a special cake
It was not ours to keep.
To have a cake it takes 24 hour notice.
They had just thought of it that evening,
So our waiter ‘borrowed’ a cake destined for someone else,
And after we all sang to JB the cake was returned…
(unbeknownst to the intended recipient)
Pretty funny, and very thoughtful.
After dinner it was back to the cabin
to put out the bags for debarking tomorrow.
That is always so stressful…
Did we pack everything,
Did we leave enough out for the morning,
Will the night clothes fit in the carryon in the morning.
We set the alarms (yes, plural)
And tried to get some sleep.
