Another 'not real' post

Yesterday and today were truly amazing. Into Rome early by train, tour of Vatican then Heart of Rome tour (including Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Panthenon) followed by a great dinner. Today was a tour of the Roman Forum and the Colisseum...beyond words! Then a great lunch and the train ride back. Now we are unpacking, showering, and getting ready for dinner...with Florence (and the leaning tower of Pisa) tomorrow...and Villefranche the day after. Our last day is a sea day, and then 3 days in Barcelona. Hopefully I will be able to catch up then.

Meanwhile...here's a shot from this morning to whet yur whistle.
Seacrest out....

I'm really looking forward to hearing all about your time in Italy, especially the train journey into Rome. Was it easy to do?

Hope you are all having a wonderful time. Is the food good on the ship? What's the entertainment like?

I'm checking every day.

Hello Lynn.

Yes, the train ride is a snap.

You take a ship's bus to the main surface street. Get off the bus and turn right and walk about 1/4 mile then cross over the road at the crosswalk and continue up the street. You can't miss the train station. If you want to use Metro or the buses in Rome then you by the BIRG ticket for 9E (else it is 4.5E). We used the Metro (very easy) so we got the BIRG. It is only good for 48 hrs and we were there longer, so we bought a one way back for 4.5E each. Have a pen to write your name and date on the ticket. There is a validation machine right there so you just have it stamped and head to the train (make sure you have the right platform...for us it was the last on on the right.) No one checks tickets. Just get on and find a seat (upstairs seats have better view). And there are restrooms on the train. There are 4-5 stops, including the one for St. Peter's if you want to go to the Vatican. We went to Termini station which is the end of the line...get off when everyone else does. Piece of cake.

Lynne, we have been so busy that we have only gone to a couple of shows...the one's with the ship's singers. They are very good.

Have heard good comments about other entertainment, but we have late seating and some shows are before dinner...sorry, Happy Hour on the balcony has priority to shows!

Food is generally very good. Great at times, average at times. Feeding 1,900+ people...well, it's not going to be perfect all the time.
